Christian Pulisic is off to a splendid start statistically speaking, even though he has rarely logged full minutes due to minor injuries and fatigue. He has bagged three goals in the first four rounds, which is enough to lead the very temporary ‘capocannoniere’ chart along with Marcus Thuram.

According to Calciomercato, the discussions to prolong his contract are underway with the Milan hierarchy, even though there’s no real urgency. His deal runs out in 2027, but the club can automatically add a year through a future clause.

The Rossoneri official would rather not resort to that and instead reach an agreement with Pulisic on an extension. The plan is to raise his wages from €4M to €5M net. His gross numbers are less cumbersome compared to those of other players, as the club can still benefit from the fiscal savings resulting from the lasting effects of the defunct ‘Decreto Crescita’ in his case.

The management already tendered the offer during the summer, but the attacker decided to wait to assess the club’s plans and competitiveness following a tumultuous and disappointing season. Things have quickly improved under Massimiliano Allegri. He has clicked with the new boss and retained a starring role, which was never in doubt. The talks will ramp up in short order. He has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, but he isn’t keen on going there.

Our Take on Pulisic and Milan

He’s often a little underrated because he’s not as flashy as their other stars, but he’s a consistent weapon. He’s surely one of their top three additions in recent years. The new and more offensive position will only help him pad his stats.
