More details emerge after Pochettino meeting with Milan

Further details are emerging after a reported meeting between Milan and USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino, who is among the latest candidates to be linked with the vacant managerial position in San Siro.

Could Pochettino replace Allegri at Milan?

Milan are on the hunt for a new head coach to replace Massimiliano Allegri, who was dismissed along with sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and CEO Giorgio Furlani almost immediately after the team’s failure to qualify for the Champions League on the final day of the 2025-26 season.

AFC Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and former Barcelona head coach Xavi were among the immediate candidates to be linked with the Milan job, but the former is now leaning in the direction of Crystal Palace instead according to recent reports.

According to the latest updates from James Horncastle and The Athletic, Milan have already met with Pochettino, who is currently preparing the United States national team squad ahead of their home tournament at the 2026 World Cup.

Thursday’s report claims that there was a meeting between Pochettino and representatives from Milan last week, ahead of the USMNT’s training camp in Georgia.

Pochettino will soon be out of contract with the USMNT. He joined the set-up in 2024 and has a deal that runs until the end of the World Cup.
