Napoli 3-1 Inter Milan – Nerazzurri Furious With Maurizio Mariani’s Assistant After Woeful Display

Inter Milan fumed as Maurizio Mariani’s assistant, Daniele Bindoni, made a huge error in their 3-1 loss to Napoli.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInter1908, Bindoni’s woeful display left the Nerazzurri fuming.

Napoli arrested Inter’s seven-game winning streak in all competitions.

However, another episode of the infamous VAR controversy overshadowed the Partenopei’s triumph.

Indeed, Maurizio Mariani came under fire after awarding a dubious penalty to Antonio Conte’s side midway through the first half.

He sanctioned Henrikh Mkhitaryan for a ‘soft’ foul on Giovanni Di Lorenzo, even though the contact was minimal.

Mariani awarded a penalty to Inter in the second half, but only after receiving a call from the VAR room.

Indeed, his assistant, Bindoni, failed to spot Alessandro Buongiorno’s clear handball.

Despite being only a few meters out, he refused to inform the leading official of an obvious foul play inside the box.

Meanwhile, though Hakan Calhanoglu found the net from the spot, Inter went on to lose the game.
