Napoli confirm president Aurelio De Laurentiis has tested positive for coronavirus

Serie A side Napoli confirmed on Thursday that club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Napoli offered no additional update on the 71-year-old other than to say:

"SSC Napoli can confirm that club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has tested positive for COVID-19 following testing yesterday."

Per Sky Sports, De Laurentiis was involved in a Serie A assembly alongside other Italian club officials on Wednesday before the positive test was confirmed.

Napoli finished the 2019-20 season seventh in the Serie A table but earned an upset shootout win over league champions Juventus to claim the Coppa Italia.

Napoli begin their upcoming domestic campaign away to Parma on Sept. 20.
