Napoli face injury blow as David Neres risks 2 months out through tendon injury

Napoli’s season continues to be shaped by setbacks, and the latest concern centres on David Neres. What initially appeared to be a minor issue has now escalated into a far more serious injury, leaving the club bracing for a prolonged absence.

The Brazilian winger suffered a relapse during Napoli’s 0-0 draw with Parma at the Stadio Maradona, and further checks have raised fears of tendon damage, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

Neres is now awaiting specialist consultations to determine whether surgery will be required. If an operation is deemed necessary, he could be sidelined for close to two months.

Napoli concern after Neres injury relapse

The problem traces back to early January, when Neres first began experiencing discomfort during a match in Rome.

Although the pain was initially managed, the condition worsened over time, culminating in the setback suffered against Parma.

Napoli’s medical staff are now focused on assessing the best course of action, aware that the decision could have a significant impact on the second half of the campaign.

With that in mind, Antonio Conte’s side have already begun to move on the transfer market.

The club are accelerating talks for Verona forward Giovane, a player admired for his versatility and upside, though any move will depend on outgoing transfers.
