Reports are growing that Napoli want to bring in Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo on loan in January, following in the footsteps of Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund.
The club had already made an approach over the summer and the player had been open to the transfer, but Manchester United ultimately decided to keep hold of him.
His situation has really not improved since then, as the 20-year-old made six appearances this season, contributing one assist, but his only start was in the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town.
Mainoo is increasingly frustrated and pushing for the exit in the January transfer window, so Napoli would seem like a logical next step.
He has already seen his former Manchester United teammates McTominay and Hojlund break out of their rut to find the form of their careers under Antonio Conte in Serie A.
Napoli are also participating in the Champions League and can give him more regular playing time.
Reports are intensifying that this is a firm course of action for the transfer session, even if it would only be a six-month loan.
His contract with Manchester United runs to June 2027, although there is an option to extend.
