Napoli are eyeing Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson amidst competition from Manchester United

Premier League 2025/26 did not start as well as expected for Manchester United. The team showed some energy in the first half against Arsenal on Sunday, but it soon disappeared. The turning point of the match was the moment when Altay Bayindir mistimed a corner and Riccardo Calafiori scored with a header.

United then tried to fight back. Benjamin Sesko came off the bench, and Bryan Mbeumo created two chances, but David Raya made a brilliant save, and the other attempt went wide of the goal. The match ended 1-0 in favour of Arsenal, and the start of the season was disappointing.

Nicolas Jackson’s report and United’s striker crisis

Now, if we move to the latest transfer news, according to a report in The Telegraph, Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson could be available in the transfer market this summer. The club have signed Joao Pedro from Brighton and Liam Delap from Ipswich, leaving Jackson to leave. Aston Villa and Newcastle were already interested in him, but now Napoli have joined the race as Romelu Lukaku could be out for months due to injury. However, the report also states that Napoli’s financial situation could be a hindrance.

United were one of the clubs that were also linked to the 24-year-old this summer. From Manchester United’s point of view, the striker problem has been there since last season. Rasmus Hojlund’s poor form has repeatedly let the team down in 2024/25. That’s why United were linked with several strikers this summer and finally signed Sesko. Jackson’s name was also linked, but the Red Devils did not take the initiative. Now the question is whether United should spend money on the Senegal striker even after Sesko’s arrival, especially when Chelsea are reportedly quoting a very high price for him.

In our opinion, United do not need Nicolas Jackson. We have already signed Sesko, and the real task now is to fit him into the team properly. There are talks of selling Hojlund, but even then, it would not be wise to waste money on Jackson. Chelsea’s asking price is very high, and with that amount, we would be better off strengthening another position.

Even if Napoli takes Jackson, it will not affect United in any way. We should now trust our new striker and give him opportunities patiently. After all, United need direction and stability to move forward, not to add more confusion by bringing in a new name every time. So, there is absolutely no worry for our club regarding Jackson. Meanwhile, Manchester United are planning to make a late move for Adam Wharton this summer.
