Sky Sports UK reports that Celtic have opened talks over a possible loan deal with an option to buy for Napoli-owned striker Ambrosino.
The U21 Italy international has just returned to the Stadio Maradona after a one-season loan spell at Frosinone in Serie B, where he scored five goals and provided four assists in 36 league appearances.
Journalist Anthony Joseph reports that Ambrosino is keen on a move to Celtic.
Ambrosino played for the U21 Italy national team during the latest European Championships, scoring one goal in four appearances in the competition.
Overall, he has two goals in 11 matches with the U21 Italy squad.
A Napoli Academy product, Ambrosino hasn’t yet made his senior debut with the Partenopei, but netted 27 times in 52 matches with their U19 Primavera squad.
Napoli have already signed two players this summer, Luca Marianucci in defence and Kevin De Bruyne in midfield.
