Manchester United’s interest in Lewis Hall has shown no signs of slowing down ahead of the summer transfer window.
Last month, Centre Devils exclusively revealed that United had made contact regarding a potential move for the Newcastle United defender.
Another report also suggested Hall would prefer to continue his career in the Premier League but not return to London.
The 21-year-old previously came through Chelsea’s academy.
With Lewis Hall attracting growing interest, Newcastle appear to be assessing alternative options.
According to Spanish outlet Diario AS, the Magpies are among several European clubs keeping a close eye on an emerging defensive talent currently playing in Spain.
The report states that clubs from England, Germany, France, Portugal and Italy have all expressed interest in the player.
Newcastle are specifically named alongside Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Porto, PSG, Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bologna.
The player attracting that attention is Jorge Salinas of Racing Santander.
Salinas has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign and is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after young defenders in European football.
The 19-year-old is capable of operating as either a left-back or a centre-back.
He is an attractive option for clubs seeking defensive versatility.
Diario AS report that Racing Santander have set his release clause at €16 million.
However, there is uncertainty over the exact figure due to contractual circumstances surrounding his registration and the club’s recent promotion to La Liga.
Salinas has been a regular starter throughout the season.
The Spanish Under-19 international has impressed scouts with his aerial ability, physicality and composure in possession.
AS also claim that he rejected a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia last summer in favour of continuing his development in Europe.
With Newcastle monitoring the youngster and United continuing to pursue Lewis Hall, the left-sided defensive market could become one to watch closely during the coming months.
Salinas appears to be one of the names generating significant interest across the continent.
