'No way'- Blockbuster Tottenham transfer rumour laughed off; Spurs unwilling to admit defeat

Will Harry Kane force an exit from Bayer Munich if Tottenham Hotspur step up their interest?

Tottenham are enjoying a brilliant start to the new season under Thomas Frank. However, the one major concern for the Lilywhites remains the lack of a reliable centre-forward who can consistently find the back of the net. Both Richarlison and Dominic Solanke have yet to prove that they can be trusted to lead the line and take the North London club to the next level.

Gone are the days when Spurs fans could count on Harry Kane to deliver a minimum of 20 goals per season. The England captain led the line superbly for Tottenham throughout his tenure before departing for Bayern Munich in 2023. His decision to leave raised plenty of eyebrows, especially since he was on the verge of breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goal-scoring record.

But for Kane, the priority was clear, he wanted to chase collective honours rather than personal accolades. His move to the Bundesliga was driven by the desire to finally lift silverware, and credit to him, he succeeded. The 32-year-old ended his long wait for a major trophy by helping Bayern clinch the Bundesliga title last season.

Tottenham not giving up on re-signing Harry Kane

Recent reports have suggested that Tottenham are keeping the doors open for a potential Harry Kane reunion. The England international is facing an uncertain future at Bayern Munich, with the German giants worried that he might head back to the Premier League next summer. They have not been helped by the fact that Thomas Frank is open to welcoming the legendary striker back to N17 if the opportunity presents itself.

However, Charlie Austin has laughed off any suggestions linking the 32-year-old to Spurs. Speaking on Sky Sports (via Tottenham News), Austin said,

“So, Kane wins the Champions League, has a successful World Cup, wins the Bundesliga, but all of a sudden, he’s going back to Tottenham? No way.”

In all honesty, Tottenham have the best chance of landing Harry Kane if the prolific striker decides to head for pastures new next summer. Thomas Frank would certainly bring the best out of him at N17, with the Danish tactician having a strong pedigree of working well with his strikers over the years. Not only that, but a dream homecoming to finish off his career at Hotspur Way is something that would be too hard for the 32-year-old to turn down.

As Ian Wright rightly pointed out a few weeks ago, Kane would relish the chance to be the man who finally delivers major silverware to Tottenham. Such a return would not only allow him to cement his legacy at N17 but also give him another shot at surpassing Alan Shearer’s record — a feat that would crown a remarkable career.
