  • Ange disaster could already be over
  • Fans losing patience with owner
  • Looking to make up for lost time

It is safe to say the Ange Postecoglou has been an absolutely unmitigated disaster at Nottingham Forest. After sacking popular manager Nuno Espirito Santo, owner Evangelos Marinakis opted to appoint his compatriot, Postecoglou.

Back in the summer, Marinakis had handed Ange an award for being the first Greek manager to ever win a European trophy, after he successfully guided Spurs to their first trophy since 2008.

So, it felt like someone doing their mate a favour, rather than from any sporting merit. Although that aforementioned Europa League win was merit itself, the 17th place certainly wasn't.

It's worth mentioning that Nuno had began to dig his own grave. They finished last season with just two wins in eight games, falling from Champions League spot to Conference League spots (before being moved up to the Europa League), and then he publicly called out Marinakis during the summer transfer window.

His ego was never going to let that slide, and a 3-0 defeat at home to West Ham United - ironically his new employers - was the perfect excuse to pull the trigger and end his 18 month or so stay at the club.

Therefore, you could argue that perhaps the sacking was not as crazy as it seemed. However, the appointment of Ange definitely was. Building a squad for Nuno-Ball and giving it to Ange is absolutely crazy.

It has proven to be just that. In the Greek-Australian's seven games in charge, they have drawn twice, and lost five games. There is no shame in losing to Arsenal, but defeats to Swansea City in the Carabao Cup and Midtyjlland in the Europa League have left fans very angry.

Perhaps Marinakis now agrees too. As per The Daily Mail, Forest are preparing a move for Fulham manager, Marco Silva.

Back in the 2015-16 season, Silva worked under Marinakis at Olympiacos, winning the Greek Super League in incredible style, winning 28 and drawing one of their 30 league games that campaign.

With that link, some thought that Forest may look to Silva to replace Nuno, but it wasn't to be. Still, the opportunity has come around quicker than even the biggest Ange sceptics would have imagined.

The issue is - with Nuno sacked, and in this scenario Ange also sacked, can Forest afford the required compensation that it would take to get Silva out of Fulham? In the above report, The Daily Mail point out that Marinakis has often opted for out of work managers - just like Ange.

There is no doubt that the 58-year old has done a lot of good work at Forest, but there is no doubt that his ego has got in the way of the club's progress here. Even with Nuno perhaps digging his own grave, you could argue that came from Marinakis' control over transfers and so on.

Let's see. At the moment, Ange is still in a job, but it feels like there is more than a zero percent chance that he is out of a job by the end of the international window.
