Inter Milan veteran star Henrikh Mkhitaryan suffered a thigh injury during Saturday’s Serie A defeat to Napoli.
According to Inter.it, the 36-year-old underwent clinical and diagnostic tests this morning in Rozzano.
Furthermore, the examinations showed a muscle strain in the semitendinosus of his left thigh.
Therefore, the experienced midfielder will not be at Cristian Chivu’s disposal for Wednesday’s clash against Fiorentina.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan conceded a penalty in the 32nd minute, though Maurizio Mariani made an erratic call in that situation.
Moreover, the former Roma ace injured himself in the process.
As a result, he could spend around a month on the sidelines, leaving Chivu strapped for options in the middle of the park.
With Mkhitaryan out of action, either Petar Sucic or Piotr Zielinski will likely have to step up.
The latter replaced the Armenian midfielder at the Maradona Stadium, but he couldn’t make an impact.
As such, Sucic could get the nod when Fiorentina arrive at San Siro on Wednesday.
