The race toward a historic quadruple of trophies is still on.
On Friday, Paris Saint-Germain outlasted Lyon 6-5 on penalties to claim the Coupe de la Ligue and a domestic treble. The French giants were crowned Ligue 1 champions of a season that prematurely ended in April due to the coronavirus pandemic, and PSG defeated Saint-Etienne 1-0 last Friday to hoist the Coupe de France.
PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas and Lyon's Anthony Lopes both produced tremendous stops during regulation of Friday's affair to keep the match scoreless through 90 minutes. PSG had an opportunity to produce a winner from a set piece in the closing seconds of extra time after Lyon's Rafael was sent off for a reckless challenge, but Neymar's attempt missed the target.
In the shootout, both clubs went a perfect 5-5 from the spot before Bertrand Traore failed to beat Navas. Pablo Sarabia stepped up and sealed the trophy for PSG.

Next up in PSG's pursuit of a fourth trophy is an Aug. 12 Champions League quarterfinal showdown with Serie A's Atalanta. Atalanta enter the final Serie A matchday five points behind champions Juventus and with a league-best goal difference of plus-52.
PSG will likely be without star forward Kylian Mbappe for that clash. Mbappe is recovering from an ankle injury he suffered in the first half of the Coupe de France Final, and he may not play in August even if PSG go through to the Champions League Final.
