It’s that time of the year when the club will be linked with numerous players, and as supporters we have our own wish lists…

I’m certainly no different, preferring to stick to realistic targets rather than the more fanciful ones that would never be possible as we often see from supporters of our city neighbours.

Like most supporters one of those players I’d like to see brought in is a combative central midfielder, something we’ve been lacking for quite some time, and it’s recently been rumoured that the club are in the market to rectify that issue with a reported bid on the table for Turkish under 21 international Demir Tiknaz.

One player however that I believe should be firmly on our radar is a name that will be familiar to most Celtic supporters, and that would be Patrick Berg, the Bodo/Glimt midfielder who was named in the Europa league team of the season last campaign as he helped his side reach the semi finals of Europes second tier competition.

Berg would most likely cost around €6- €7 million but at 27 years of age that would most likely cause an issue such is our transfer strategy.

But for me it would be a no brainer. Despite failing to make an impression in France with Lens, the Norwegian international has been a revelation at Bodo and has stacks of experience at both international and European level. Whilst domestically he’s helped Bodo win four league titles, so he has the experience and pedigree to fit right into our side.

Scandinavians have always excelled in the Scottish game and Berg would be no different. He’d give us that experience and combative edge we’ve been lacking for a while in the middle of the park which would benefit us greatly.

He’d certainly be my top choice.
