Patrick Dorgu has established himself as a starter under interim manager Michael Carrick who took over from former permanent boss Ruben Amorim until the end of the 2025-26 season.

The defender, who joined Manchester United in last year’s January transfer window, has made 44 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring three times whilst also picking up three assists.

One of these times was today against Arsenal where the 21-year-old smashed a left footed effort from the edge of the box into the roof of net, sending Red Devils fans into limbs.

The goal aided United as they picked up a 3-2 victory meaning the Red Devils climbed to fourth in the Premier League.

Furthermore, the goal was the the left-sided defender’s second goal in two games following his goal against local rivals Manchester City.

Meanwhile, his goal against Newcastle United and overall performance saw him pick up the league’s award for Player of the Week.

However, following the goal against Arsenal, in the 81st minute, Patrick Dorgu had to come off the field injured with him substituted for Benjamin Sesko.

Prior to the change, he had received treatment from the medical team but was holding his hamstring as he went off the field.

With him injured, Carrick may have to reconsider his options going into future weeks where Manchester United will face Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur.

Now, attention from supporters could turn towards Michael Carrick to see if he provides an initial update on what Dorgu’s condition is like currently.

Meanwhile, fans may look to see if Carrick can outline a timeline on his injury, although this will be dependent on the severity of his injury.

For now, then, patience may be required as the medical team run their necessary checks on the starting defender.
