Tottenham are keeping all options open to bring in a player that could replace Heung-Min Son for the upcoming season. The Lilywhites have lost a legendary player in Son after the South Korean announced his departure from Hotspur Way after a ten-year stint. The 32-year-old ended his Spurs career by winning the Europa League, ending the North London club’s 17-year wait for a major trophy.
Now, Daniel Levy will need to look for a better replacement that could fill the void left behind by the legendary winger. The Lilywhites are short in options for wide positions, so signing a new left-winger is imminent. The North London club will need to up its ante in the coming weeks as we approach the business-end of the transfer window.
Thomas Frank’s system relies heavily on wide players cutting in and creating goal-scoring opportunities. The Danish tactician likes his wide players to get behind the defensive line and be in the best position to score for the team. So, it is necessary for the club to bring in a player that would suit the system and adapt to Thomas Frank’s demands.
It was reported earlier this week that Tottenham have no intentions to sign Manchester City star Jack Grealish in the summer. The Lilywhites believe the high wages that the England international is demanding do not line up with the wage structure at the club. This comes after the North London club were keeping tabs on the 29-year-old over a possible deal after the Cityzens slammed a £40m price tag on him.
Now, Troy Deeney believes Spurs should go all-in for the left-winger and bring him to N17 in the coming weeks. Speaking on talkSPORT, Deeney said,
“I still think it’s a perfect landing spot for Jack Grealish. Personally, I think it’s a wonderful move. He’s played down Tottenham’s interest this week, but to me, that feels more like a Spurs thing.”
The ex-Watford striker added,
“Whatever people want to say about Jack, he’s been at Man City, he’s used to winning, he knows the level, he knows the standards – and he’s an upgrade on everything they’ve got there. So the fact they’re hesitating now? I think it’s daft.”
Troy Deeney believes Tottenham is the perfect place for Jack Grealish and he would do well at N17. The ex-Watford striker is not buying into the fact that the England international turned down Spurs. In fact, Deeney thinks that the Lilywhites were the ones who are staying away from a possible deal. Deeney also points out that Grealish knows how to win and he will up the standards at N17, so Spurs must go all-in for him.
In all honesty, signing Jack Grealish could go sideways really fast for Tottenham. The left-winger’s age is another factor that could possibly mean that he does not have a long time at the top. There is a large downside to the move as he would be expensive to afford, as well as, his off-the-field antics would not help the cause either.
