The Serie A managerial merry-go-round is well underway following the confirmation of Simone Inzaghi’s departure from Inter, and now, there could be new opportunities for the likes of Stefano Pioli, Thiago Motta, Marco Baroni and Daniele De Rossi in the near future, Football Italia understands.
Inter confirmed on Tuesday that Simone Inzaghi has left his position as head coach by mutual consent, but the Nerazzurri are not the only Serie A club on the lookout for a new head coach.
Ex-Milan coach Stefano Pioli, who is currently in charge of Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, is at the final stages of his tenure in the Middle East, and has been targeted by his former club Fiorentina, for whom he played between 1989-1995, and then coached between 2017-2019.
Pioli is currently Fiorentina’s first-choice option to replace the recently-departed Raffaele Palladino. The club are pushing for his signature.
Former Lazio coach Marco Baroni, meanwhile, is in pole position to become the new head coach of Torino, and is expected to meet with Urbano Cairo before the end of the week to discuss contractual details.
Atalanta are also looking for a new head coach to replace Gian Piero Gasperini, who will take charge of Roma next season.
La Dea have arranged talks, coincidentally, with former Roma head coach Ivan Juric, and are also understood to be looking at both Palladino and former Juventus head coach Thiago Motta.
Meanwhile at Como, in the event that Cesc Fabregas leaves to take over from Simone Inzaghi at Inter, the club could turn to Roma legend Daniele De Rossi, who has been out of work since leaving the Stadio Olimpico four games into the 2024-25 season.
