Serie A referee Marco Guida made a controversial penalty decision in Sunday’s dramatic clash between Pisa and Inter Milan.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 44-year-old failed to award what appeared to be a clear-cut penalty to Inter.
A second-half brace from Lautaro Martinez fired the Nerazzurri to a 2-0 victory over the top-flight newcomers.
Therefore, the San Siro giants returned to winning ways after losing twice on the bounce in the past seven days.
Guida handled almost every critical moment well.
However, he never considered giving Inter a penalty when Piotr Zielinski went down inside Pisa’s box.
Indeed, Henrik Meister failed to touch the ball while bringing the 31-year-old midfielder to the ground with a reckless tackle.
It was a soft contact, which is why Marco Guida refused to point to the spot, though few would’ve blamed him if he did.
Though Guida’s decision didn’t affect the outcome, it was yet another refereeing mistake that had gone against Inter.
