The Premier League season is about to get underway, with the campaign due to kick off on Friday, when Arsenal take on newly-promoted Coventry City. But how will the table look at the conclusion of the campaign?

Today, we’ll aim to answer a bit of that question. Who will land in the top six of the end of the season and who will miss out on the top spots?

There are some strong contenders in the Premier League this year, with plenty of dangerous outfits vying for a position in Europe. But who will make it in?

6. Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham fans might be a little disappointed with this position, all things told. Yes, they were abysmal last season and were lucky to avoid the drop, but have made major improvements to their playing staff in the interim.

Players such as Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes will almost certainly help them prevent a repeat of the 2025/26 campaign, but are they quite ready for a tilt at the top four?

The hoodoo of last season will take some shaking off. Roberto De Zerbi never settles for second-best and often gets the most out of his players, but he isn’t a miracle worker.

5. Liverpool

Liverpool are in a transition period at the moment. With Arne Slot sacked at the end of last season, the Reds will now be led by former Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola.

As such, it’s hard to predict where they’ll finish. Will the Spaniard hit the ground running? Or will he fail to control such a set of egos in his first stint at a truly big club?

Additionally, there are holes in the Reds’ squad that still remain unaddressed. They’re lacking at both centre-back and in central midfield, while the outgoing Mohamed Salah still remains unreplaced.

4. Manchester United

Manchester United haven’t won a Premier League trophy since 2013. Sadly for Red Devils fans, all signs point towards their drought continuing in 2026/27.

Michael Carrick has done a fine job at Old Trafford, but we wonder if he has the necessary nous to take them one step further. He effectively steadied the ship after the chaos of the Ruben Amorim era.

Still, they have a solid squad and should finish inside the top four. They’re capable of picking up results against top teams, but can they remain consistent enough through the whole campaign to mount a serious title challenge? We don’t think so.

3. Manchester City

Manchester City could be in for an interesting season in 2026/27 – and not in a good way. After Pep Guardiola departed the club, he left behind some almighty shoes to fill.

Enzo Maresca is a fine coach, but he still carries question marks. Does he have what it takes to succeed at a big club? After he was sacked by Chelsea last season, we’re not sure.

If Maresca does not hit the ground running, there is every chance he’ll be sacked. Whatever the case, don’t expect a season of stability at the Etihad Stadium – they should get a top four spot, but it’ll be hard for them to compete against Arsenal this year.

2. Chelsea

This might be a controversial pick. Outside of losing Marc Cucurella, Chelsea have had a very strong summer. Signings such as Maxence Lacroix, Geovany Quenda and Morgan Rogers could all take them to the next level.

On top of this, we all know how good of a manager Xabi Alonso is. Yes, he was unsuccessful at Real Madrid, but the Los Blancos post often proves to be something of a poisoned chalice.

Having signed players to fit his system, he is poised for a successful season at Chelsea. Still, one must be mindful of the fact that they finished 10th last year.

1. Arsenal

Right now, Arsenal’s placement at the top of the hypothetical table appears to be a no-brainer. The reigning champions look even stronger this year than they did last year – and now, there is no Guardiola to challenge them.

Simply put, no other club in the Premier League is operating on Arsenal’s level right now. Their approach isn’t pretty, but it’s highly effective.

Having brought players such as Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis on board, with more potentially on the way, it’s hard to pick against them right now.
