Premier League Wonderkid is ‘Target’ for Quartet

Once upon a time, Ethan Nwaneri was viewed as the most promising wonderkid in world football. When he became the youngest senior Premier League player of all time at Arsenal, it looked as though the world would be at his feet.

A few years later, these prophecies now seem to have rung false. It is important to remember that he is still very young at just 19 years of age, but he has not materialised into the superstar that many thought he would have by now.

It looks like his time at Arsenal – despite being touted as a future club legend – could soon be coming to an unceremonious end in the summer transfer window.

A few clubs are looking to whisk him away. He has spent time out on loan over the last few years, but this time, it could be a permanent break.

According to a report from journalist Matteo Moretto on YouTube, four clubs are in the hunt for Nwaneri. They are Everton, AC Milan, Fulham and RB Leipzig.

It is unclear if they want him on a permanent basis or on loan as things stand. The desires of each suitor will likely differ from club to club.

That’s not all, either, as Nwaneri is also in the sights of a big six club this summer. A report from Football365 back in June claimed that Liverpool had ‘made contact’ with Nwaneri’s representatives and that Arsenal were ‘open’ to a potential departure.

As well as this, a report from Football Insider claimed that Newcastle United were also in the race to acquire Nwaneri’s signature this summer.

Despite Liverpool’s apparent interest, this was over a month ago now. Nothing has surfaced since, so this particular thread may well have gone cold.

Nevertheless, it seems that Nwaneri’s time at Arsenal could be nearing its end. His talents are plain for everyone to see, but has Mikel Arteta lost faith in the precocious youngster? Only time will tell.

What would Ethan Nwaneri bring to AC Milan, Newcastle, Everton or Liverpool?

As you can see from the above stats, Nwaneri struggled to make an impact at Marseille in Ligue 1 last season. His career may need a serious shot in the arm.

Thankfully, all six of the clubs mentioned in this article should be able to give him just that. In particular, it is highly likely that he would be a regular first-team starter at Newcastle, Everton, Fulham and Leipzig.

Liverpool have a strong track record of developing youngsters. A good recent example of this is Rio Ngumoha, who has burst into the senior team and has already made a great impression.

A pliable attacking player, Nwaneri generally functions as an attacking midfielder on account of his superlative technical ability, but he can also play as a right winger or as a striker.

His greatest attribute is his magnetic ball control. He is able to unlock a tight defence with a swift turn or drop of the shoulder, shimmying beyond players with ease. As well as this, he also possesses a picture-perfect first touch.

The talent is certainly there. He just needs a team who will be willing to take a chance on him after leading a disappointing 2025/25 campaign.
