European champions will meet European champions at the Parc des Princes this Wednesday night.
Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur will travel to France this midweek, where defending UCL champions Paris Saint-Germain host Thomas Frank & Co. in what will be the rematch of the UEFA Super Cup that we saw earlier this summer.
Both the teams will go into this game with a different mood around their dressing room. PSG are still sitting a bit comfortably in that Champions League table despite that 2-1 defeat against Bayern Munich. But the North Londoners are still feeling that blow in the gut after their North London derby defeat against Arsenal last weekend (FT 4-1) as a back five tactic backfired on Thomas Frank as Eberechi Eze added salt to Lilywhites’ wounds with his hat trick.
The Lilywhites are still unbeaten in the European top tier this season. They have a couple of wins and an equal number of draws, showing how Thomas Frank’s approach has been working among the elites.
If we do look back at that Super Cup, Spurs did go into the game as the underdogs, but they did take this PSG side to penalties after a 2-2 draw in Udine.
Tottenham do have three losses in five games in all competitions, and that last one was a hurtful one against Arsenal. So most of the fans boarding that flight to France would be in this fear of whether Tottenham would be exposed once again.
Speaking about PSG, their title defence took a first blow when Bayern managed to beat them on a 2-1 scoreline despite then playing the second half with 10 men. It was former Liverpool man Luis Diaz who scored a brace before he was shown the red carpet for his challenge on Achraf Hakimi. But PSG could only get back one, as Luis Enrique’s side failed to make the extra man count.
But they are in a strong position in the UCL group stage. They are still in reach of the trio of Bayern, Arsenal and Inter Milan. And moreover, PSG has never lost back-to-back games in UCL.
So Thomas Frank & Co. have a task in their hands…
Date: 26 November, 2025
Time: Kickoff at 8PM BST
Location: Parc des Princes
PSG will be missing the services of right-back Achraf Hakimi. He has been serving on the sidelines with an ankle injury that he suffered in that loss against Bayern.
But he is not the only one missing for PSG. They will also not have Desire Doue, given his hamstring problems. While Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele has been nursing calf problems, the Frenchman is said to be close to being available for Wednesday’s kickoff.
The duo of Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will be expected to start on the flanks. They were limited to bench roles against Le Havre, so you’d expect them to start this midweek.
Warren Zaire-Emery could start in that right-back role given that Hakimi has not been playing.
Tottenham have a more complicated injury list than PSG.
To start with, Brennan Johnson will serve his suspension after he picked up that red card in the Lilywhites’ 4-0 win over Copenhagen. The former Nottingham Forest star will join the likes of James Maddison, Radu Dragusin, Kota Takai, Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke and Yves Bissouma in the absentee list, with all of the others serving long spells on the sidelines. While Mathys Tel will be ineligible, as he has not been registered in the UCL squad by Tottenham.
We could see former PSG full-back Xavi Simons return to the eleven after he did not start against the Gunners at the weekend.
Kudus was seen limping at the Emirates Stadium, but he should make it fit in time for the kickoff.
Paris Saint-Germain: Chevalier; Zaire-Emery, Zabarnyi, Pacho, Mendes; Ruiz, Vitinha, Neves; Lee, Barcola, Kvaratskhelia
Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Palhinha, Sarr, Simons; Kudus, Kolo Muani, Odobert
Given that Tottenham have a side that will be frustrated and wanting to prove themselves after that thrashing by the Gunners. But given PSG’s quality, they should still manage to find a way against the Lilywhites this midweek.
PSG 2 – 1 Tottenham Hotspur
