Manchester United loanee Radek Vitek has impressed at EFL Championship side Bristol City in 2025/26 and has broken his silence over his future at his parent club.
The young Czech goalkeeper won Bristol City’s Player of the Year award, Young Player of the Year award, and Players’ Player of the Year award, with the fans singing “one more year” at him following his final game at the conclusion of the season.
Radek Vitek has admitted to BristolLive that his future is up in the air, but he knows that in the short term, he will return to Manchester United for pre-season.
“I think at the moment [on his future], basically, it’s go to Manchester United, and we will see what the solution will be there. What does the future hold for me?
“We will see what the options will be and what Manchester United will want to do with me: if they want to keep me there, sell me, loan me. At the moment, I can’t really speak much about the future because I don’t even know.
“It’s really hard, but I’ve enjoyed every moment here. I really like the club. We will see.
“The fans have been absolutely fantastic with me for the whole season,” he continued. “It’s special to play in front of fans, that’s why I’m looking forward to tomorrow [Saturday, May 2] so much.
“You never know what the future holds, but it might be the last time where I walk out in Ashton Gate in a Bristol City shirt.”
Only Carl Rushworth of Coventry City and Christian Walton of Ipswich Town kept more clean sheets than Vitek in the Championship in 2025/26, despite Manchester United’s keeper playing for a mid-table club rather than one searching for Premier League promotion.
Vitek is clearly a cut above the Championship, and in a team with a stronger defence, could easily have secured the Golden Glove award in the division.
And it appears he is setting his sights beyond, too, distancing himself from a return to Bristol City with his comments.
While Radek Vitek’s long-term future hangs in the balance, he knows that he’ll return to Carrington for Manchester United pre-season duty in the summer months.
