German football expert Raphael Honistein tips Randal Kolo Muani to play a key role for Tottenham Hotspur this season

Tottenham Hotspur pulled off a surprise deal for Randal Kolo Muani on transfer deadline day.

The France international has joined Spurs on a season-long loan from Juventus, with no option or obligation to buy. Dominic Solanke’s worrying injury update meant that the north Londoners had to act quickly in the final days of the transfer window, and they brought in the 26-year-old as his potential replacement in the squad.

Paris Saint-Germain chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s decision to end talks with Juventus allowed Tottenham to sign Randal Kolo Muani. After falling out of favour under Luis Enrique at PSG, Kolo Muani spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus, where he scored ten goals in 22 appearances. Having capitalised on Juventus’ failure to re-sign him, the Lilywhites chiefs have certain plans with the versatile forwards.

German football expert reveals Tottenham’s plans with Kolo Muani

According to German football expert and commentator Raphael Honigstein, Tottenham want to be patient with Kolo Muani but remain hopeful he will develop well during his time in north London. The centre-forward has been tipped to play a key role for Thomas Frank’s side this season.

“Yeah, I think that’s certainly the thinking on his behalf,” Raphael Honigstein told An Echo of Glory Podcast when asked whether a successful loan spell with Tottenham will help Kolo Muani to kick on in his career.

“I think Spurs are banking on him to develop. I think it is going to be new for him. We’ve seen a lot of the forwards coming into the league this season; there is a bedding-in process.

“I think a bit of patience is in order, but if Spurs look after him well and develop him, I expect him to play a very big role in what looks a very exciting team.”

Kolo Muani tipped to play a key role at Spurs

Kolo Muani will compete with Solanke and Richarlison for a starting berth, but with Solanke currently injured and could undergo ankle surgery, the Frenchman has a great chance to stake his claim in Frank’s side. The fans could see the 26-year-old make his debut against West Ham United after the international break, provided he is match fit.

Richarlison has been Frank’s leading man in attack but he struggled to impose himself in Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth before the international break. Frank had no option on the bench to change things due to Solanke’s injury, but the situation is expected to different against West Ham United with Kolo Muani likely in the squad.

Hopefully, the PSG loanee hits the ground running in the Premier League after the international break and develops well under Frank’s watchful guidance.
