Manchester United could soon be keeping a close eye on developments in Italy once again, with major changes potentially arriving at one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

A number of former Red Devils players have rebuilt their careers away from Old Trafford over the last two seasons, particularly in Serie A, where several ex-United stars have become key figures.

Napoli, in particular, have benefited massively from that trend after enjoying another strong domestic campaign and securing a return to the Champions League.

However, uncertainty is now beginning to grow despite their recent success.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, via X, Antonio Conte is preparing to leave Napoli at the end of the season, despite still having a year remaining on his contract.

The Italian manager reportedly informed club president Aurelio De Laurentiis of his decision around a month ago and is prepared to walk away without collecting his final year’s wages or any compensation package in order to leave on good terms.

Conte’s future has become a major talking point following Italy’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with many supporters believing he could now emerge as a leading candidate for the national team role.

His possible exit could have a direct impact on two former Manchester United players currently thriving in Naples.

Rasmus Hojlund recently completed a permanent move to Napoli after the club secured Champions League football, activating an obligation-to-buy clause worth around £37.5 million.

The Danish striker impressed during his loan spell, scoring important goals throughout the campaign and helping Napoli secure a top-four finish.

Meanwhile, Scott McTominay has continued his outstanding form in Italy following his move from Manchester United in 2024.

The Scotland international has become one of Napoli’s most influential players and followed up last season’s Serie A MVP-winning campaign with another impressive year in midfield.

Antonio Conte played a significant role in shaping Napoli’s current project, helping turn the side into title challengers again.

Now, with the manager potentially heading for the exit door, questions are beginning to emerge over what comes next for Napoli and the former United players at the centre of their resurgence.
