Real Madrid look to block Manchester United’s Aurelien Tchouameni pursuit

Aurelien Tchouameni has recently found himself on Manchester United’s shortlist for a potential move this coming summer, when the club are looking at completing a major rebuild.

Last summer, the Red Devils remodelled their attack, with some major offloads and signing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbuemo and Benjamin Sesko.

Now, it’s time for the same treatment to be applied to the midfield, with Casemiro due to leave the club and United needing to get an upgrade for Manuel Ugarte.

While Casemiro has been incredible this year, having his career best season with goal contributions, Ugarte has fallen short of justifying his £50 million transfer fee in 2024.

As such, at least two new midfield signings are needed, with Aurelien Tchouameni featuring on United’s list of targets, however, Real Madrid aren’t willing to let him go without a fight.

Footmercato has reported that the France international is viewed as a key player at the Santiago Bernabeu, and as such, Real Madrid are not keen to see him leave this summer.

In fact, the club have plans to secure his long-term future in the Spanish capital by offering him a contract beyond his current 2028 end date.

The midfielder’s versatility to be able to play in midfield or as a back-up centre-back is understood to be key reasons for Madrid’s plan to retain their star.

It’s also understood the LaLiga giants are considering offering a wage increase as part of the contract negotiations, recognising his contributions to the club.

As such, United will need to offer the 26-year-old impressive terms to see him lured to Old Trafford.

However, with his contract still in place for two more years, Madrid have a position of power in transfer negotiations, being able to demand a hefty transfer fee for the midfielder.
