Real Madrid have seemingly received the message that Paris Saint-Germain will not sell young forward Kylian Mbappe at a discount. Whether or not it's too late has yet to be determined.
Roughly 48 hours after stories surfaced that Paris Saint-Germain rejected a bid of €160 million ($188 million) from Real Madrid for Mbappe, both ESPN and football insider Fabrizio Romano reported Thursday afternoon the Spanish giants upped the offer to €180 million ($211 million) for the 22-year-old.

That still may not be enough. ESPN's Alex Kirkland and Rodrigo Faez noted PSG want an amount closer to €220 million ($258 million) even though Mbappe is out of contract at the end of this season and has rejected proposals to extend his deal with the Ligue 1 side because he wants to relocate to Madrid either before the end of this month or next summer.

As recently as earlier this week, PSG were said to be interested in acquiring Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo as a potential replacement for Mbappe. Ronaldo, however, is reportedly close to completing a monumental move to reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, and Romano tweeted the 36-year-old is not on the Parisians' radar.
By all accounts, the thought of featuring in the PSG attack alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar isn't cooling Mbappe's desire to play home games at the Bernabeu as quickly as possible. As much as PSG want to win the Champions League next spring, selling Mbappe by the weekend and then reinvesting that money in other talents before the transfer window closes Tuesday evening may be what's best for all involved.
