Real Madrid star frustrated with his lackluster play this season

After Real Madrid added Kylian Mbappe to a squad that just won the Champions League, many thought the team was going to be unstoppable this season, but evidently, that is not the case.

Not only has the team as a whole been underperforming compared to where people thought they would, but individual players have seen a major drop in productivity from last season, and the most surprising is Jude Bellingham.

As reported by Marca, Bellingham himself is frustrated with his lack of goals and overall production this season, with the Englishman believing he needs to get back on the scoresheet for his performances to be satisfactory.

At this point last season, Bellingham had scored 10 goals in all competitions, but this season the star is still without a goal, having last scored against Deportivo Alaves back in May. Bellingham's frustrations have become clear with some of his body language on the field. He can be seen yelling at his teammates when they don't pass him the ball after he has gotten into great goal-scoring positions, which is understandable to an extent.

This was not the first instance of Bellingham showing his frustrations toward his teammate on the field. In the team's last Champions League match against Lille, Bellingham was seen shouting at Vinicius Junior and Mbappe for failing to track back and do their defensive duties when the team needed protection from conceding another goal. Aside from his lack of goals, it seems some of Bellingham's frustrations come from his teammates not always doing their jobs, which is something he has a right to be frustrated about.

With the addition of Mbappe, head coach Carlo Ancelotti had to change his formation from last season which has resulted in Bellingham playing in a deeper role in the midfield which could be what is causing his lack of productivity.

With this formation change experiment not working as expected Ancelotti is expected to revert to his older formation, allowing Bellingham to have more freedom to move forward to hopefully help the Englishman get out of this rut and find his old self from last season.

Going forward Bellingham will revert to playing as a more central No. 10 behind the two strikers of Vinicius Junior and Mbappe which will allow him to get into better goal-scoring positions as he did last year. Much like last season once he gets one goal, more and more will start coming for Bellingham, alleviating much of that frustration he is feeling early this season.

Real Madrid have two big tests coming up this week against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and against Barcelona in La Liga. If Los Blancos hope to defend both their La Liga and Champions League titles it is key that Ancelotti figures out the best way to get Bellingham back to his goal-scoring level of last season.
