Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé had a scare while playing in the United States of America, but he seems to be making a recovery.

The Spanish club announced earlier today that he was hospitalized with a small case of gastroenteritis.

The World Cup winner missed the club’s debut game in the Club World Cup against Al Hilal, a team from the Saudi Pro League. It was reported that he had a fever before Wednesday’s match.

Losing Mbappé for the inaugural Club World Cup surely hurts the tournament’s ratings for the time being as he’s one of the most popular athletes on the planet.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. Gonzalo Garcia scored for Madrid, but Rúben Neves equalized just seven minutes later with a penalty, and Al Hilal's goalkeeper Yassine Bounou saved a late penalty attempt from Federico Valverde to secure the draw.

Manager Xabi Alonso spoke to the media yesterday, mentioning that he’s hopeful the French forward will be available for the club’s next game on Sunday against Pachuca. Real Madrid said Mbappe would "undergo a series of tests and follow the appropriate course of treatment."

Despite the scare, Mbappé seems to be making a quick recovery. According to insider Fabrizio Romano, he was discharged from the hospital and has returned to the training camp with Real Madrid teammates.

“Mbappé will again continue receiving specific medical treatment and he will gradually return to team activity,” Fabrizio posted on X.

His status for Real Madrid’s second game is unknown at this time, however, the club has to be excited that their best player is more than likely going to be ok.
