Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on potential reinforcements, and the 26-year-old center-back’s agent has confirmed that talks for a contract extension with Bayern Munich have stalled.

Upamecano’s deal runs through June 2026, and he’s requesting a renewal fee of around €20 million. Cadena SER reports that Real Madrid could turn that into a signing bonus, allowing the French defender to don the white shirt and form a formidable trio alongside Eder Militao and Dean Huijsen.

Meanwhile, the ongoing physical issues with Alaba and Rüdiger are making club officials feel these players belong more to the past than the future. That has pushed Real Madrid to consider bringing in a new center-back.

Furthermore, the Spanish outlet notes that Upamecano is emerging as a leading option, particularly after the club’s interest in Ibrahima Konaté started to wane due to the Liverpool defender’s recurring injury problems.

Recently, Sport Bild’s Christian Falk reported that PSG are monitoring the situation of Upamecano. The Frenchman is seen as an option for the club, who could pursue a deal if the player were to be a free agent next summer.

A previous report from Fichajes revealed that Bayern Munich’s center-back has yet to sign a new contract, leaving the door open for a potential free transfer that would appeal to Manchester United, Real Madrid, and PSG.
