Premier League title hopefuls Chelsea are reportedly ahead of Inter in the race to sign AC Milan captain Mike Maignan.
According to French Sky Sport via FCInter1908, the Blues are in pole position to lure the 30-year-old goalkeeper away from Serie A.
Mike Maignan has entered the final year of his contract at San Siro, with Milan unable to tie him down to a new deal.
Therefore, the former Lille star could sever ties with the Rossoneri at the end of the season.
With Inter seeking a long-term replacement for Yann Sommer, Maignan has emerged as a ‘dream’ target for the Nerazzurri.
Despite failing to align with Oaktree’s transfer policy due to his age, there’s no doubt that he would be a massive coup for Inter.
However, the 20-time Italian champions must beat Chelsea to secure his services.
Indeed, the Blues tried to convince Milan to sell their star goalkeeper in the summer but to no avail.
Aware of Maignan’s contractual wobble, Chelsea are keeping close tabs on the situation.
