Inter Milan have reportedly decided to make Manchester City loanee Manuel Akanji their first signing in the next summer transfer window.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri will trigger the buyout clause in their loan deal with the Cityzens.
Manuel Akanji signed a short-term contract at San Siro at the tail-end of the summer, joining the club from Man City.
Furthermore, Inter inserted a buyout option in the agreement, which would become mandatory under certain conditions.
Inter must pay around €15 million to secure Akanji’s services permanently.
Meanwhile, Beppe Marotta has reportedly informed the player’s camp of Inter’s intention to activate the buyout clause.
Despite not spending much time at San Siro, the Swiss defender has already made a strong impression.
Indeed, he has quickly established himself as a regular starter under Cristian Chivu.
The 30-year-old has made four starts in Serie A, adding one more in the Champions League.
With Inter set to cut ties with Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij, Akanji’s permanent transfer seems like a logical move.
