Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has reportedly turned down a ‘monstrous’ offer from Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal.
According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the 53-year-old has chosen loyalty to the Nerazzurri over a lucrative contract in Riyadh.
Unlike Simone Inzaghi, who preferred the petrodollars over competitive football in Europe, Ausilio reaffirmed his commitment to Inter.
Indeed, the former Nerazzurri manager left Serie A as soon as Al-Hilal’s offer arrived in June.
Despite signing Inzaghi at the end of last season, Al-Hilal seemed determined to lure Piero Ausilio to Saudi Arabia.
However, Al-Hilal’s relentless pursuit of the Inter chief executive has failed to come to fruition.
Instead, Ausilio will stay at Inter. Furthermore, his contract at San Siro runs out in 2027, with the club eager to offer him fresh terms.
Ausilio has been Beppe Marotta’s most trusted associate for years, helping him bring Inter back to the top of European football.
Therefore, his decision to reject Al-Hilal’s proposal could send a strong message to the dressing room.
