Serie A giants Inter Milan have reportedly decided to activate the buyout option in their loan deal with Manchester City for Manuel Akanji.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri will make the Swiss defender’s transfer permanent in June 2026.
Manuel Akanji joined the San Siro club on loan in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
Indeed, the 30-year-old left the Etihad Stadium after falling out of favor with manager Pep Guardiola.
Despite being Inter’s newest defensive addition, Akanji has already become indispensable.
For context, Cristian Chivu has played him more often than any other center-back this season.
Furthermore, Akanji’s tactical intelligence and defensive prowess have already impessed everyone at San SIro.
Therefore, the club will trigger the buyout clause.
Indeed, Inter are willing to splash €15 million to make Akanji’s move permanent.
Meanwhile, they could raise funds from Benjamin Pavard’s switch to Olympique Marseille.
The French giants signed the 29-year-old on loan with an option to buy toward the end of the summer.
