Despite having him undergo separate medical tests in Barcelona, it is now reported that Milan aren’t prepared to make a strong offer for Marc Pubill, preferring to pursue Strasbourg’s Guéla Doué.
The Rossoneri’s search for a right-back has been beset by problems and delays, which saw Archie Brown snatched from under their noses by Fenerbahce.
Just as it had seemed they were convinced by the idea of signing Pubill from UD Almeria, it would seem the club hierarchy changed their minds again.
The player had the unusual step of undergoing preliminary medical tests to check the stability of his knee last week, even before Milan had made a formal offer.
Despite the tests giving good results, this is believed to be a technical decision to look elsewhere.
Now Tuttomercatoweb, Fabrizio Romano and others all report that Max Allegri prefers for them to focus on getting Doué instead, so have put Pubill on the back burner.
He might not stay there for long, with interest also from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Doué is also going to be a tricky proposition, with a price-tag of over €20m and Chelsea said to be hovering around the 22-year-old Ivory Coast international.
Milan had been prepared to go for Pubill if the cost was €15m, but seeing as the asking price is €18m plus add-ons, this put them off.
