Francesco Pio Esposito could start for Inter Milan in their Club World Cup clash with Urawa Red Diamonds this week.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They note that an injury crisis in attack could force the teenager straight into the lineup.
Inter Milan take on Urawa Red Diamonds in their second match of the Club World Cup group stage on Saturday. They drew 1-1 with Mexican club Monterrey in their first match.
And Nerazzurri coach Cristian Chivu won’t have too many options to choose from in attack.
Inter captain Lautaro Martinez is available. He scored against Monterrey, although he didn’t look at his best.
Meanwhile, Inter striker Marcus Thuram came off the bench against the Mexicans. However, he looked a long way from his best physically, and reportedly suffered an injury.
In the meantime, the Gazzetta dello Sport note, Mehdi Taremi is still not available for Inter.
The Iranian remains unable to travel from Iran as airstrikes from Israel continue.
Therefore, the options for Inter coach Cristian Chivu are very limited in attack.
Striker Sebastiano Espostio started against Monterrey on Wednesday. The 22-year-old is back in the Inter squad following the end of his loan at Empoli.
Sebastiano Esposito would certainly be a candidate to start Inter’s second group stage match against Japanese team Urawa Red Diamonds.
However, reports the Gazzetta, it could also be the 22-year-old’s brother Francesco Pio Esposito.
The 19-year-old striker sat out Inter’s group stage opener against Monterrey. This was due to a knee problem.
However, reports the Gazzetta, Francecso Pio Esposito is close to recovering from his injury. Therefore, he’d be a candidate to start against Urawa on Saturday.
