Cristian Chivu is ready to name a new backroom staff as he becomes the coach of Inter Milan.
Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, name the key figures behind the scenes in the Romanian’s coaching staff. There will be some new arrivals, as well as a couple staff staying.
Today is the day. Inter Milan are set to make the appointment of Cristian Chivu as their new coach official.
The Nerazzurri had already decided upon the 44-year-old to replace Simone Inzaghi a few days ago.
On Thursday, Inter chose Chivu, concluding a search of a couple days. This search had seen them try for Cesc Fabregas, and also reportedly consider Patrick Vieira.
However, in the end, Inter went with Treble-winning former defender Chivu. They called the Romanian, and he agreed to step up.
As far as the backroom staff who assist Chivu in his duties, Sky Sport Italia expect some notable changes.
As assistant coach, Sky reports that Giovanni Martusciello will come in.
He has already been Inter assistant coach, working under Luciano Spalletti for two seasons. Meanwhile, he has assisted Maurizio Sarri and Lazio and Juventus, and most recently coached Salernitana.
Replacing Fabio Ripert will be Stefano Rapetti. Rapetti had been Inter’s athletic coach previously between 2009 and 2013.
Then, Sky report, Paolo Orlandoni will return. The third-choice Inter keeper during the 2009-10 season will work alongside Gianluca Spinelli as Nerazzurri goalkeeping coach under Chivu.
