Roma have officially confirmed that left-back Samuel Dahl has joined Benfica on a permanent transfer after playing just one hour of competitive football with the Giallorossi.

Official: Dahl joins Benfica in permanent deal from Roma

Dahl moved to the Stadio Olimpico in the summer transfer window at the start of the 2024-25 season, signing on a deal worth €4m plus up to €2m in add-ons from Djurgårdens IF in his native Sweden.

In an unstable start to the 2024-25 campaign with the Giallorossi, which brought the departures of both Daniele De Rossi and Ivan Juric as head coach, Dahl made just three appearance for Roma: Two in Serie A and one in the Coppa Italia for a total of 60 minutes.

He was then allowed to leave on loan to Benfica, who had an option to buy for a fee in the region of €10m.

Thursday’s reports claim that the clubs negotiated a minor discount, and that Benfica have paid a fee of €9m to make Dahl’s move from Roma permanent.

Benfica have confirmed that the 22-year-old has signed a four-year contract that will run until the summer of 2029.
