Reports are growing rapidly that Roma want to reunite Matteo Pessina with Gian Piero Gasperini, with Tommaso Baldanzi heading to Verona.

The Giallorossi are seeking a different type of player for the midfield and preferably one who is already very familiar with Gasperini’s tactics.

Multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia, Calciomercato.com and Sport Mediaset all claim that the idea was proposed by agent Beppe Riso, and is progressing quickly.

Pessina set to replace Baldanzi at Roma

It was already known that Baldanzi would be loaned to Hellas Verona to get more regular playing time, but Pessina is now picked to be his replacement at the Stadio Olimpico.

It would be a loan with option to buy at the end of the season from Serie B side Monza.

The 28-year-old barely played last season due to injury problems, but has fully recovered following surgery on a torn tendon.

He made 96 appearances under Gasperini with Atalanta, scoring six goals and providing four assists.

Meanwhile, Roma have officially sent Anass Salah-Eddine to PSV Eindhoven, on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
