Serie A title hopefuls Inter Milan will take on fierce rivals Roma on Saturday without veteran wingback Matteo Darmian.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 35-year-old has suffered a muscle injury ahead of Saturday’s trip to the capital.
Matteo Darmian has become a fringe player for Inter this season.
Indeed, after playing a prominent role in Simone Inzaghi’s system, the former AC Milan defender has tumbled down the pecking order.
New boss Cristian Chivu has only handed him 27 minutes of action across all competitions.
Darmian made a late cameo appearance against Juventus in mid-September.
However, he has seen spent every minute of Serie A action on the bench.
Despite seeing his first-team status derailed, Darmian remains a decent backup option.
Therefore, losing him on the eve of a mouth-watering clash against Roma is another blow for the Nerazzurri.
In addition to Darmian, Inter will be without French superstar Marcus Thuram this weekend.
Indeed, the 28-year-old is still recovering from a thigh injury.
