Uncertainty is surrounding multiple players at Manchester United.

That need has only intensified with potential departures looming, leaving United’s recruitment team exploring a wide range of options across Europe.

And one name is starting to gather serious attention.

Said El Mala has cast fresh doubt over his future at FC Koln, with growing indications that he could move on this summer.

Following Koln’s 3-1 win over Werder Bremen, the 19-year-old stopped short of committing his long-term future to the club.

“I feel at home here, but I can’t predict the future,” he said, as reported by DAZN, relayed by GOAL.

“I still have five games to play, and I’ll give everything.

“We’ve had open and honest talks with Thomas Kessler, and we both know there are a few crucial matches left for the club.

“When the time comes, something will be sorted.”

Those comments have only fuelled speculation.

Said El Mala recently split from his long-time agent, Martin Camona, who had strong Premier League connections.

United are preparing for a summer where their attacking depth may look very different, with Marcus Rashford expected to leave permanently following his loan spell at Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is also likely to depart, with Borussia Dortmund exploring the possibility of bringing him back for a third stint.

That leaves a clear gap in wide attacking areas.

El Mala’s profile fits the type of player United are now targeting.

In his debut Bundesliga season, he has delivered 11 goals and four assists, making him Koln’s top scorer and one of the standout young attackers in the league.

His performances have not gone unnoticed internationally either.

Julian Nagelsmann included him in the senior squad back in November, highlighting how quickly his reputation has grown, even though he later linked up with the U21s as planned.

However, not everyone is convinced a move is imminent.

Camona previously played down speculation, insisting: “Said feels totally at home in Cologne.”

Koln’s hierarchy have also made their stance clear when it comes to selling their star player.

Vice-president Ulf Sobek addressed reports of a potential £43 million (€50 million) move with a grounded perspective on the situation.

“First, you have to find the right time for such a transfer.

“If we were to sell him now for 50 million euros, we’d have to pay a significant amount in taxes.

“So it’s not always just about the absolute value; you always have to think a step further.”

That comment emphasises the complexity of any potential deal.

United’s recent investment in attacking talent, including deals for players like Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha, shows a clear shift toward building a dynamic and flexible forward line.

But with more exits expected, there is still room for additions.
