Scotland interview Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to become next manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still searching for his next managerial role as he looks to build his coaching career.

The Manchester United legend, and former manager, who was most recently the manager of Besiktas, was beaten to the manager role at Ipswich Town following the departure of Kieran McKenna.

Reports have also suggested that Solskjaer was offered the role of England manager before Thomas Tuchel took over the mantle in 2024.

More recently, however, the manager reunited with Michael Carrick at Manchester United vs Rosenberg as the club continued their pre-season operations.

New reports have now emerged, revealing that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was interviewed for the Scotland managerial post.

Reporting on The Scottish Sun website, the outlet have stated that Solskjaer was among a string of candidates that were interviewed for the role.

It was Sebastien Pocognoli that has emerged on top, though, with the publication stating that the Belgian has agreed to take over.

Following the World Cup finals this summer, Darrell Clarke departed his role as manager of the Scotland team leaving a void to fill.

Pocognoli now appears to be filling that spot, with The Scottish Sun stating that the manager is set to begin his new role at the start of next week.

Having began his career at Genk, in the Under-19s, the manager has previously had spells at Belgium Under-18s, Union St.Gilloise, and most recently Monaco.

The manager will now prepare for life at Scotland, where focus remains both on the upcoming Nations League campaign and qualification for the 2028 European Championship.

For Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, on the other hand, missing out on yet another role may further push disappointment.

With continued desire, though, it only appears like a matter of time before the former Manchester United manager lands his next role.
