Scott McTominay instantly became the heartbeat of the Napoli side when he joined from Manchester United in summer 2024.

In his first season, the Scotland international helped them win the Serie A title, only their fourth time in the club’s history.

But McTominay wasn’t only a part of the successful team, he was a driving factor to the team’s success, earning the Serie A MVP and Player of the Season for his contributions.

This season, he’s been just as valuable to the club, having racked up nine goals and four assists in 33 games across Serie A, the Champions League, and the domestic trophies.

Back in December, McTominay added to his trophy haul, winning the Supercoppa Italiana, bringing further success to his time in Italy.

However, new reports from AreaNapoli have revealed that an offer from Saudi Arabia was rejected.

Whilst the bidding club is unnamed, the details of the offer have been reported, with a salary of £13 million (€15 million) being put on the table.

The deal was understood to be made up of a fixed £10.5 million (€12 million) salary, plus £2.6 million (€3 million) in bonuses.

However, the move was ultimately rejected by McTominay, but it doesn’t mean he’ll remain at Napoli forever.

Recently  the club’s global business development officer, Leonardo Giammarioli opened up about the reality of losing McTominay over the coming years.

Speaking of the mixed emotions at the concern of losing McTominay, and the quality of his football and personality, Giammarioli commented: “Yeah, of course I’m worried [McTominay will leave Napoli].”

He continued: “But ultimately, especially Scott, who’s a very nice guy, we’re happy if he gets to the next level in a couple of years – maybe not now, maybe not next year, but he deserves it.

“Look at Stuttgart, they wanted to keep Nick Woltemade, but when such an offer comes in, there’s not much you can do, when the player wants to go and money is important.”
