Serie A line-ups: Sassuolo vs. Fiorentina

Fiorentina are on sparkling form and want to consolidate fourth place with M’Bala Nzola and Giacomo Bonaventura, but Domenico Berardi aims to revitalise Sassuolo.

It kicks off at the Mapei Stadium at 19.45 GMT.

The Viola are going strong in every competition, topping their Conference League group, qualifying for the Supercoppa Italiana Final Four and setting up a Coppa Italia quarter-final with Bologna that is on Tuesday January 9.

They are also fourth in Serie A and looking for a fourth consecutive league victory here, even though Nico Gonzalez, Riccardo Sottil, Gaetano Castrovilli and Dodo are injured.

Christian Kouame is on Africa Cup of Nations duty, which further reduces the options available to coach Vincenzo Italiano.

Nzola is preferred to Lucas Beltran upfront.

Sassuolo, on the other hand, scraped one point from their last five Serie A games and crashed out of the Coppa Italia quarter-finals with a 3-1 defeat to Atalanta on Wednesday.

Gregoire Defrel, Agustin Alvarez, Matias Vina, Pedro Obiang and Uros Racic are out of action, but Daniel Boloca made his comeback – with a goal – in the Coppa midweek wearing a protective mask for a fractured jaw.

Berardi returns after missing that Coppa tie with a muscular problem, supporting Armand Lauriente and Andrea Pinamonti.
