As the January transfer window inches towards closure, Sheffield United remain actively engaged in their quest for squad reinforcements, as they gear up for the pivotal stretch of the Premier League season.

Among their pursuits is a loan bid submitted for Joe Worrall, the experienced Nottingham Forest centre-back and club captain. Worrall’s talents have also captured the attention of Championship outfit Leeds United, adding further intrigue to the ongoing transfer saga.

Ben Godfrey has also emerged as a target for both clubs. Despite Football Insider reporting that Leeds’ loan offer for the 26-year-old was rebuffed, indications suggest the club remains determined in their pursuit of him as a viable option. Godfrey’s versatility to effectively cover both full-back and centre-back positions makes him an attractive prospect, particularly considering the current team’s challenges in both areas.

According to James Nursey’s social media, both Leeds United and Sheffield United made attempts to secure a loan deal for Worrall last night. However, their efforts were thwarted as Nottingham Forest indicated a preference for a permanent sale rather than a temporary arrangement.

Despite holding the position of club captain, the 27-year-old has seen limited action on the pitch for Nottingham Forest this season. He has made appearances in just nine of the team’s outings across all competitions. His most recent game was in the 2-2 draw against Luton Town on October 21st.
