Celtic are eyeing up not one but two new strikers to replace Kyogo Furuhashi

The Celts agreed to let the Japanese attacker leave the club in the January transfer window, after Brendan Rodgers had revealed that the player had wanted to leave to seek a new adventure in a top five league.

That £10 million move to Stade Rennais in Ligue 1 didn’t go to plan, and in a whirlwind turn of events, is now playing for Birmingham City in the English Championship (how the mighty have fallen indeed).

Eyebrows were raised at the timing of the departure, having just secured qualification to the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League after defeating Swiss cracks Young Boys.

Many thought the club would move to bring in another striker for the impending opportunity that presented itself to us in the land of milk and honey, but that wasn’t to be. Celtic decided they would wait until the summer transfer window to pursue their targets and in turn, left the manager and the squad undercooked for a glamour tie with Bayern Munich.

Enough said about that one.

However, as it is indeed the summertime now, the Bhoys are reportedly chasing several targets in attack and defence, if recent reports are to be believed – and the reports just keep coming.

In light of the news that Celtic should see a deal for Michel-Ange Balikwisha sewn up as soon as Nicolas Kühn signs on at Italian side Como, Scottish Sun are now claiming that the club are looking to secure the signing of TWO strikers to replace the aforementioned Furuhashi, with two names in particular high on the agenda.

It’s claimed that a deal for Shin Yamada of Kawasaki Frontale is in the offing and as of tonight, has moved a step closer to being finalised. The Japanese star has been on the radar for a while, with the club retaining a strong interest in the Asian markets, following the major successes of Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate, respectfully. Now it appears as though they will dip back into that footballing environment for £1.5 million-rated Yamada.

Meanwhile, it also states that young Napoli attacker Guiseppe Ambrosino is wanted on an initial loan deal with an option-to-buy if it goes to plan. As reported on The Celtic Star earlier, the player is keen on the idea of moving to Glasgow with the opportunity to play Champions League football a major pull, even putting the blockers on a potential move to Cagliari if Brendan Rodgers steps up the initial enquiry in the Italian striker.

It could be a busy week at Paradise.
