Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir David Beckham are two names that are recognisable to most Manchester United fans across the globe.
The duo, who were part of one of the most successful periods in the club’s history, have both remained in football following their retirements although have taken alternative paths.
For Beckham, it has meant progressing into club ownership through the Salford City project, which was in financial trouble until recently according to Beckham and Gary Neville.
As well as this, the former professional has been approached in a potential United takeover bid.
Meanwhile, Ferguson has continued to attend Red Devils matches although has also continued to support Benburb, a local Scottish side, through a cash injection which saw the side make history through making the third round of the Scottish Cup.
Now, the two legends have come together to pay tribute to Mark Hughes in a BBC documentary series celebrating the legends of Welsh sport called Legends of Welsh Sports.
In the half an hour segment on Mark Hughes, Sir David Beckham and Sir Alex Ferguson took turns to pay tribute to the former United player.
Firstly, Beckham stated: “There are certain players that played for United over the years that set the tone of the club. “We were able to learn from players like Mark.
That is why Mark is part of Manchester United history.”
Meanwhile, Ferguson added that United could have definitely used Mark Hughes when going to watch him at a game when he was playing for Barcelona.
As well as this, Ferguson called Hughes “a perfect player.”
With the two legends’ admiration for the Manchester United legend now revealed, his place in United folklore is arguably further cemented.
Furthermore, for older fans, Hughes could hold major memorable moments in their minds.
