Marcus Rashford made his first appearance at the new Camp Nou on Saturday as he came off the bench to play Deportivo Alaves marking the left-winger’s 18th appearance in a Barcelona shirt in his time at the side.

Rashford, who had not played at the stadium since his official arrival at the club in the summer, played the second half but was not able to get a goal or assist.

However, Barca won the game 3-1 following goals from Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo.

Prior to the game, Marcus Rashford had spoke about the new stadium and called playing at for Barcelona “something different” whilst claiming it was something that he “wanted to play in.’

However, following a mystery injury/illness, Rashford missed the official first game at the new stadium before marking his return in the UEFA Champions League away at Chelsea in midweek.

Now, following Rashford’s spell in the game against Deportivo Alaves, the Spanish media have been reacting to the English international’s performance.

Firstly, Football Espana stated that Marcus Rashford “worked hard, but failed to get his reward.”

Meanwhile, AS stated that the English international “was very dynamic and ambitious on his wing, although he lacked a bit of precision in the final third.”

As well as this, GOAL stated that Rashford “was fairly lively, twisting and teasing his way past Alaves’ Otto.”

With the Spanish reaction highlighting Rashford’s efforts against Deportivo Alaves, attention could turn towards Barcelona’s next game against Atletico Madrid in the coming days at the new Camp Nou.

However, with Raphinha now returning from injury, Hansi Flick will have to decide whether to start him or Rashford in the next game.

But, with this game still days away, only time will tell in the prospect of a decision.
