Supercomputer Predicts PL Team to Win Champions League

The 2026/27 Champions League begins tonight. While we’ll see the beginning of the campaign tonight, in this article, we’ll be looking towards its end.

Using data from Opta’s supercomputer, we’ll take a look at the five teams who are most likely to win the Champions League this season.

How will teams in the Premier League fare amidst the calculations? Spoiler alert – only two English teams made it into the top five!

5. PSG

Surprisingly, despite being the current holders, the supercomputer thinks that PSG are the fifth-most likely team to win the Champions League this season.

When you examine the Parisians’ start to the campaign, however, this pick begins to make a bit more sense. PSG are currently 13th in the Ligue 1 table, having drawn two and lost one of their opening three games.

Despite the reputation that Luis Enrique’s men have built up over the last few years, a few cracks have certainly shown themselves recently. Can they recover in time for the business end of the season?

4. Barcelona

Barceloan, meanwhile, have had an excellent start to the season. With four wins out of four La Liga games, they’re top of the table as things stand.

It has been a while since they won the Champions League. The Catalonian giants’ last big European trophy win came all the way back in 2015.

Still, after kicking off the campaign in such dominant fashion, Barcelona have to be one of the main team in contention to win the Champions League this season.

3. Manchester City

Manchester City aren’t the same team they were under Pep Guardiola, but Enzo Maresca is nonetheless enjoying a decent start to life at the Etihad Stadium.

They’re certainly still a threat to any team in the world right now. Currently, they are top of the Premier League table with three wins out of three, but only on goals scored.

We’ll have to see how the Sky Blues get on when they face one of Europe’s top teams. They will take on local rivals Manchester United this weekend – a major acid test for Maresca’s men.

2. Bayern Munich

We were a bit surprised by this one. Bayern Munich are unquestionably one of the best teams in the world, but are they good enough to be considered second-favourites to win the Champions League this season?

The Bavarians have won one and drawn one out of their opening two Bundesliga games, though the did win the German Supercup against Borussia Dortmund last month.

Still, with superstars such as Luis Diaz, Michael Olise and Harry Kane on their books, they’ll most certainly present a formidable force.

1. Arsenal

This shouldn’t come as a shock to any. Arsenal were fantastic last season – they weren’t pretty to watch, but they were undeniably effective.

In the interim, the Gunners have become even stronger – signings such as Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis have only galvanised their already star-studded squad.

Yes, they aren’t actually top of the Premier League at the time of writing, but only on goals scored. With a win over Chelsea at the weekend, Mikel Arteta’s men look poised to make a serious splash in Europe this season.
