Tottenham Hotspur have two of Sweden’s brightest talents in that roster at Hotspur Way, with the duo of Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall donning the Lilywhites badge highly and proudly, and now Daniel Levy has another Scandinavian talent among his wishlist, given how the North Londoners have been linked with a future move to bring sixteen-year-old striker Kevin Filling to Hotspur Way. And the player himself is staying focused on the here and now, despite the links with a move to Premier League heavyweights.
Kevin Filling has been putting in some impressive performances at AIK, and that shows, given his tally of a couple of goals in his first five appearances since he came back from his loan spell at Enköpings, and his rapid rise, complemented by his high potential, has reportedly got the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United interested in his signature. But credit to the teenager, he isn’t letting this off-the-pitch speculation distract him from his development.
Filling was quizzed about the rumours linking him with a high-profile move away to the English top tier, where he told Fotboll Skanalen:
“I try not to think about it in any special way. I just look at where I am now. I’m at AIK and I continue here every training session.
“I’m going to get better as a person and as a player. That’s where I am (in my mind). For me, it feels pretty simple. Because that’s who I am as a person. That’s for others to handle.”
Tottenham have shown interest in signing some highly rated young talents and developing them through the corridors at Hotspur Way as part of Daniel Levy’s drive to buy high-potential players and help them reach their potential whilst ensuring to instil that Tottenham culture in them. And this buy-them-young transfer policy has seen the North Londoners sign some highly rated starlets at N17 in the recent past, and Kevin Filling appears to be next in line.
The North Londoners already missed out on fellow Swedish forward Roony Bardghji in the recently concluded summer transfer window, given he instead joined Barcelona, which was sweet revenge from the Spanish giants for the Lilywhites snatching Bergvall, but Filling’s emergence among the targets shows how Tottenham Hotspur continue to focus highly on bringing Scandinavian talents to N17.
Tottenham also have a coach who has that knack of developing talents in Thomas Frank, and hopefully Kevin Filling is another through the doors at Hotspur Way.
