Estevao has suffered a grade four hamstring injury and is highly unlikely to take part in the World Cup according to reports.

The Brazilian only recently returned from a previous hamstring injury, but Estevao was forced off in the first 15 minutes of the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Initial reports had suggested Estevao was set to miss 15-20 days, but those reports appear to very much be wide of the mark.

Estevao unlikely to play at the World Cup

The Athletic have reported Estevao’s participation at the World Cup this summer is in serious doubt due to a hamstring injury.

The report adds he’s reportedly suffered a grade four hamstring injury, and will obviously play no further part this season.

It’s a huge blow for not only Chelsea, but also Brazil, and it’s a major setback for the teenager who’s showed some glimpses of his talent this season.

Estevao is regarded as the best player to emerge from Brazil since Neymar, but he’ll be disappointed his debut campaign has been disrupted by injury.

The 18-year-old is arguably Chelsea’s best winger, which is a testament to his talent, but also how poorly the Blues have recruited in the wide areas.

Chelsea are seemingly getting closer to parting ways with Liam Rosenior after a fifth league defeat in a row without scoring.

The Blues are thought to be holding meetings over his future before a final decision is made, and are said to have made initial contact with Andoni Iraola.
